Rapid Elite

Matt Gaarder, owner of Rapid Elite in Maryville, had the entrepreneurial dream for years — he just needed the right fit. When he discovered an opportunity to join a franchise specializing in refilled and remanufactured ink and toner cartridges, it clicked. The concept made sense for the Maryville community, and he moved forward decisively. What started as a single-service offering has grown into a full print shop, shipping center, and promotional products business serving the region.

Since opening in February 2010, Rapid Elite has experienced what Matt calls “one heck of a ride.” There have been extreme highs and challenging lows, but through it all, steady growth and expansion have marked the journey. NWMEF has been part of that story from the beginning — helping him move the idea forward, secure startup funding, and navigate hurdles along the way. Over the years, continued facilitation support has brought clarity in key decisions and confidence during pivotal moments.

What makes the journey even more meaningful is that Matt hasn’t built the business alone — his family has grown right alongside it. From young children in the early storefront days to celebrating major life milestones together, the business has been woven into their family story. His advice to future entrepreneurs is straightforward: gather as much information as possible, be prepared, and stay flexible. If something isn’t working, pivot. And most importantly, build a strong team — at work and at home — because the ride is much better when you don’t take it alone.
